Artisan House

Artisan House is a case study in balance — a contemporary home that brings together innovation, classical proportion, and refined material expression. Located in the heart of Kew, the design reflects Wall Architects’ commitment to architecture that feels both timeless and highly livable.

The façade presents a bold yet composed identity, with vertical fin walls arranged in a classical rhythm to create scale, depth, and visual clarity. A 7-metre pivot door marks the entry — a sculptural feature softened by delicate frameless glazing and skylights, setting the tone for what lies within.

Inside, a double-height foyer opens to a calm, layered interior. Spaces are organised around natural light and movement, blending horizontality and verticality in ways that feel intentional and grounded. Despite its scale, the home retains a sense of intimacy through a series of pocket gardens and courtyards, offering framed views and moments of stillness throughout.

Full-height glazing in the bedrooms ensures a direct connection to the landscape, while clear sightlines between rooms and garden create a quiet rhythm of openness and retreat. Material detailing — from recessed fin walls that double as lighting features, to the offset helical stair — reinforces the home’s sculptural quality without overwhelming the experience.

Designed to meet the evolving needs of a large family, Artisan House prioritizes warmth, generosity, and long-term comfort. It’s a project shaped by purposeful restraint — a home that celebrates permanence through proportion, elegance through simplicity, and a sense of clarity in every detail.
