Meet Fresh Chatswood marks the dessert brand’s debut in Sydney, building on its strong reception in Melbourne with a design that merges architectural expression and cultural warmth. Creating a distinct experience at every location, Meet Fresh approached this project with the goal of establishing a refined yet playful identity — one that draws patrons in and sets a new benchmark for dessert retail in the city.
Located on the ground level of a mixed-use building, the site presented a challenge: deep-set and visually removed from the main street frontage. The design response was to amplify its presence by shaping an architecture of invitation. A rhythmic façade of soft white arches gives the shop a unique voice among its formal surrounds — an approachable, sculptural feature that draws the eye and marks a clear threshold between city and sanctuary.
Inside, an open-plan layout supports visual permeability while encouraging a seamless customer journey. A custom curved bar counter sits at the heart of the space, acting as both focal point and functional centrepiece. Above, a softly contoured ceiling houses dome lighting and delicate greenery, creating a layered overhead experience that grounds the bar in atmosphere.
The material palette plays with contrast and comfort: warm timber, polished plaster, tile, soft planting, and gold accents are punctuated by a bold, eccentric blue — an unexpected insertion that cuts through the earth tones and leaves a lasting impression. These curves and colours work in tandem to break free from the rigid urban context, establishing the interior as a space of respite, curiosity, and character.
Every detail is shaped around the user experience, from the textured materiality to the subtle visual rhythm of the arches, which continue throughout the interior in varying scales and dimensions. The result is a store that feels cohesive yet dynamic — refined in tone, but rich in personality.
As the first Sydney flagship, Meet Fresh Chatswood sets a precedent for what dessert retail can be: not just a place to purchase, but a spatial encounter. A small-scale intervention that makes a bold impression, it reflects the brand’s commitment to combining hospitality, design, and cultural storytelling in equal measure.
